Namal's cajoling via sports at Kilinochchi

In the LeN lead news today ,it was reported that they are conducting their election campaign on the theory ‘by cajoling if not by contesting’. While the contest is to be held tomorrow , following the cajoling part of the theory , ‘Prince’ Namal was at the Bharathipuram playground in Kilinochchi yesterday , playing cricket and football with the Kilinochchi youths , perhaps trying to make a display on what is co existence.

He also participated in the march ‘Tharana’ today from Devundara thuduwa to Peduru thuduwa for collection of funds to build a cancer ward at the Jaffna Hospital . He joined the march when it reached Kilinochchi. Our Kilinochchi correspondent reported that Kilinochchi school children were transported in bus loads by the Army to partake in the march. Whether Karu becomes a leader or Sajith that will not make UNP victorious overnight: unity is the prime need -Dayasiri’s cure for UNP’s crisis

Just because Ranil Wickremesinghe is removed from the leadership, and Karu or Sajith takes it over , that will mean that the UNP will bloom like a new flower immediately , and emerge victorious overnight- that is not his view , UNP Kurunegala district M P Dayasiri Jayasekera said. In this three cornered contest , at the crucial time he would sit in judgment and give notice of his decision, he added. The time is opportune now for all to participate in discussions , search for a solution and unite for the infinite good of the party , he further noted.

No matter who wins in this contest , if he destroys the enemies, that is what is paramount. If the others are shouting hoarse openly against him day in and day out , that is wrong.

If we can unite as one and conduct our campaign against the Govt. effectively , even MPs and Ministers of the Govt. are there to rally round us . They are even now urging us to unite at least now for the sake of the party and the country so that they can join us.

It is not my belief that because Karu or Sajith becomes the UNP leader following the removal of Ranil Wickremesinghe , the party will emerge victorious overnight and a brand new chapter will open. No matter who becomes the leader , everyone must unite and support that leader . All must hold hands together and work towards party’s success. If we make that our aim , there are ample opportunities for us to defeat this moribund Govt. and by giving place to those who are competent and efficient we can certainly form a strong powerful Govt. , he observed.

The leader ought to know to work with the group in entirety , and not just with sections, factions and fractions. Sangakkara is not playing cricket only with players whom he fancies , rather taking along with him those who are capable , Dayasiri pinpointed.
